The Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) will host a Share Fair to highlight key achievement and successes under The Global Fund Project. The PANCAP-Global Fund Share Fair will be held in Port of Spain, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on 11-12 September 2019.

The Caribbean has benefitted significantly from several Global Fund grants since its inception in 2002. The most recent Global Fund Grant – Removing Barriers to Accessing HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health Services for Key Populations in the Caribbean – has an overarching goal to contribute to the removal of barriers that impede access to HIV and sexual and reproductive health services for key populations, thereby promoting the achievement of regional HIV targets. Key populations are defined as People Living with HIV (PLHIV), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), Transgender, Sex Workers (SW), Migrants, and Youth belonging to these groups. This three-year grant will conclude on 30 September 2019.

Over the three years, PANCAP partners collaborated, implemented and built upon the achievements of previous Global Fund Grants. Progress has been made in engaging influential groups such as Faith Leaders, Parliamentarians, Civil Society, Youth and National AIDS Programme (NAP) Managers. As a result of this, regional networks such as the Regional Faith Leaders Steering Committee and the PANCAP Steering Committee on Youth Advocacy were established to reach their wider constituencies and for sustainability of their response. There has been significant support to National AIDS Programme Managers and other national stakeholders to ensure that national responses are well coordinated and that civil society organisations and key populations are meaningfully engaged at policy, programme and service delivery levels. Regional, national and community civil society organisations have worked with key populations to address human rights violations, lead strategic litigation and deliver HIV testing, treatment, and referral services with funding from the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC)-Coalition el Centro Orientación e investigación Integral (COIN) Global Fund Grant. Regional technical agencies such as the Pan-American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), Caribbean MedLabs Foundation (CMLF), and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) delivered technical assistance in prevention, treatment, laboratory services, and monitoring and evaluation.

The PANCAP-Global Fund Share Fair will be held under the theme “Celebrating our successes, Charting the way forward”! The Share Fair will provide an opportunity for regional, national and community implementers who were supported by The Global Fund project, to share successful implementation experiences that have contributed to achieving the regional goals and objectives of the Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework on HIV and AIDS (CRSF), 2014-2018.

The objectives of the Share Fair are to:

1. Share examples of successful interventions from policy to service delivery under the PANCAP and CVC-COIN Global Fund Grants;
2. Foster collaboration among PANCAP Stakeholders – Faith Leaders, Parliamentarians, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Youth Leaders and National AIDS Programme Managers;
3. Provide an update on the HIV epidemiology and response in the Region;
4. Provide an update on the achievements of the PANCAP and CVC-COIN Global Fund Grants;
5. Share the goals, objectives, interventions, and implementation approach of the new PANCAP-CVC-COIN Global Fund Grant.
The Share Fair will use highly participatory approaches for knowledge sharing. These include panel discussions, poster sessions, knowledge cafes, didactic opinion presentations, and video testimonials.

Expected Outputs

1. Successful sharing and knowledge transfer of best practices from implementation experiences.
2. Enhanced collaboration among PANCAP stakeholders.
3. Increased knowledge and improved understanding of the status of the HIV response in the Region.
4. Understanding of the components of the PANCAP-CVC-COIN Global Fund Grant.
