Objective

This small grant is providing support to the grantee to the Grantee to create partnerships with private sector businesses and advocate for the employment of SWs in a non-discriminatory environment.

Activities

1. Sensitise private sector employers on the impact of stigma and discrimination on employees.
2. Conduct a baseline assessment to determine private sector employers’ perception and position on employing SWs.
3. Advocate for private sector employers to include workplace policies against stigma and discrimination.
4. Vocational skills training and psychosocial services to participating SWs.

Activities Update

Commencement of small grant activities were delayed due to the late disbursement of funds. First tranche of US$11,200 was received 34 days after signing of the LCI Project Small Grant Agreement.
1. Private sector employers’ sensitization exercises began in May 2017 and are currently on-going, includes one-on-one phone calls, face to face meetings, and a planned stigma and discrimination media campaign.
2. The baseline assessment to determine private sector employers’ perception and position on employing SWs was conducted in June 2017 (See Jabez House Progress Reports).
3. A stigma & discrimination workplace policy was drafted. Meetings began in June and are currently on-going. A social media campaign on stigma and discrimination is planned to increase Jabez House’s advocacy efforts.
4. Vocational skills training has been completed. This eight week activity was conducted from April 18 – June 20, 2017 (See Jabez House Progress Reports).
