Dr. Tai Hunte-Ceasar was born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and graduated as salutatorian of Charlotte Amalie High School in 1997. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Howard University before completing an Internal and Social Medicine residency and an Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She also holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of Miami and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Hunte-Ceasar serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Health and is an Infectious Diseases consultant on the Medical Staff at Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she chairs the Infection Control Department. She is the Founding Dean of the University of the Virgin Islands S. Donald Sussman School of Medicine, leading the establishment of the territory’s first medical school. She was honored by Governor Albert Bryan Jr. with the U.S. Virgin Islands Trailblazer Award in recognition of her contributions to healthcare and public service.
