About PANCAP

Director’s Message

Dr. Wendy Telgt-Emanuelson

It is both an honor and a privilege to lead the PANCAP Coordinating Unit (PCU). As we continue to implement a coordinated and structured regional approach towards achieving an AIDS-free Caribbean, I am committed to providing the vision and leadership necessary to ensure the effective delivery of regional public goods. This will support national programs and advance PANCAP’s regional objectives.

I extend heartfelt congratulations to the countries that have taken significant steps to support their HIV and AIDS programs through domestic financing. Your commitment is especially commendable in an era where donor funding is less prevalent. The impact of untreated HIV and AIDS cases on the lives of those infected and affected is profound, and your efforts are crucial in mitigating these effects.

Drawing on my extensive knowledge and experience in strategic health policy development, I aim to advance the outstanding work being done by the PCU in program planning and execution, in our ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS in the Caribbean.

As we identify future challenges and seize potential opportunities, there will be necessary changes in strategies, programs, and policies to provide targeted public health leadership throughout the region. The PCU will continue to build capacity among regional partners and stakeholders through innovative knowledge management programs, empowering them to lead and manage regional HIV and other public health initiatives.

As I embark on this new journey, I look forward to greater collaboration and cooperation among all our partners and stakeholders. I am dedicated to ensuring that new initiatives, ideas, and strategies are promoted and implemented for the benefit of our target populations. Together, we will continue to deliver high-quality services to our key populations, striving to meet global targets. Let us unite in our commitment to an AIDS-free Caribbean.
